ARCHIVES Equity Library Theatre Chicago has a long and distinguished history. Founded in 1952, ELT is an affiliate of Actors Equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers in the United States. ELT is also one of Chicago's oldest ongoing non-profit producing organizations. ELT has presented staged readings of new plays at Chicago Dramatists, The Athenaeum, Stage 773, Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre, and The Hubbard St. Lofts by nationally known playwrights Sheila Cowley, Marisa Smith, Frank Farrell, Paul Lewis, David Zellnik, Neil Haven, George Brant and Ian August. Members of ELT Chicago have received grants from the City of Chicago (DCASE) and Art Spark to help us expand access to artists and audiences as we produce new work free to the public. We will be updating this page soon with more history from the last 50 years of Equity Library Theatre. 2018 Reading Series: He Did It 2017 Reading Series: Hazardous Materials
