ABOUT US
Founded in 1952, ELT is an affiliate of Actors Equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers in the United States. ELT is also one of Chicago's oldest ongoing non-profit producing organizations.
Originally a showcase production for professional actors, Equity Library Theatre has also produced new and classic works at various venues in Chicago, IL.
Recently, we have been excited to share our All Access Reading Series, an annual prize for playwrights whose work features characters who are underrepresented in our culture's storytelling.
Through our evolving variations of service to the craft of theatre, one thing has remained constant with ELT. We are Equity actors working for Equity actors.
